Building on last June’s outdoor shows, NXNE 09 will again be spilling out of the clubs and into the streets and beyond. Festival bands eager for a second showcase will entertain at dozens of free stages around the city.
Look for two weeks of free shows in Toronto parks around the core of the city, from the west end to Greektown, from mid-town to the island ferry docks. Some performances run through lunch, others go late afternoon or early evening. All are a great window into the amazing talent and diversity of NXNE.
Catching a train? Watch for NXNE bands in Union Station–hearing music echoing through the Great Hall is a sure cure for rush-hour commuter’s blues.
NXNE’s free outdoor programming reaches a peak with four days & nights of free concerts at Yonge-Dundas Square, June 18-21. Catch NXNE bands onstage during the day (including the Friday and Saturday of the Indie Music Marketplace), followed by major headline acts in the evening.
