The complete film schedule and links to all available trailers are available at nxne.com. New
additions to the NXNE Film Festival include:

Out of Our Minds– D: Tony Stone
Three time periods, one connection: Blood. The central characters are a woman (Melissa Auf der
Maur) and her car. We follow her in a strange ritual that climaxes in a collision between the past and
future – crashing through the gateway to parallel worlds in the same forest. A fantasy world where a
Viking heart, a car crash and a bleeding forest connect. Using music rather than dialogue, Out of Our
Minds tells a universal tale in striking optics.

Please Note: Melissa Auf der Maur performs as part of the myspace Canada presentation of the
NXNE Mainstage at Yonge Dundas Square, on Thursday, June 18, 6–11pm.

Depeche Mode: The Posters Came From the Walls– D: Nicholas Abrahams and Jeremy Deller
This film tells the stories of the faith and devotion of Depeche Mode fans in Mexico, Iran, Russia, UK
and more. This fascinating and inspired documentary about fandom is bizarre, funny, sad and often
touching.

Low: You May Need A Murderer– D: David Kleijwegt
Sparhawk, a neurotic doubter by nature, is the main character of this film about religion, violence,
questions of conscience and – be it concealed or not – madness, that can also be seen as a touching
love story. Set against the scenery of modern day America and the carefully composed slow songs of
the band Low.

Toronto-New York– D: Guy Dixon
Toronto-New York features archival footage of Canadian jazz bassist Brandi Disterheft as she
breaks into the daunting New York music scene.

African Underground: Democracy in Dakar– D: Magee McIlvaine, Chris Moore and Ben Herson
This groundbreaking documentary follows artists before, during and after the controversial 2007
presidential election in Senegal and examines hip-hop’s role in the political process. Originally shot as
a seven part documentary mini-series released via the internet – the documentary bridges the gap
between hip-hop activism and video journalism.

Record– D: Dylan Reibling
A sidewalk record sale takes an emotional turn when a chance musical discovery yields a powerful
response. Based on a true story and filmed in Toronto’s Kensington Market. Winner, Best Fiction
Director at the Yorkton Film Festival.

City Sonic is a cross-platform music series that delivers the stories behind the jams, heartaches,
lucky breaks and historic venues that have shaped Toronto’s phenomenal music scene, told by the
city’s coolest musicians, seen through the eyes of its best directors including Bruce McDonald,
Clement Virgo, Charles Officer and George Vale. City Sonic films will preview at the NXNE Film
Festival, online at www.kensingtontv.com and across the web on City Sonic social media websites.
The full series rolls out in the Fall of 2009 on mobile phones, online, and on GlassBOX Television’s
groundbreaking music channel AUX.tv. Previews at NXNE on Wednesday, June 17 at The Drake
Hotel.
