Taking bets now – the Polaris Music Prize short list is out. Whittled down from the 40 on the long list, yesterday’s announcement revealed the 10 artists left in a no holds barred, polite Canadian fight to the finish of $30,000 + bragging rights.
Big congratulations to everyone and we definitely like the office odds. Of the nominees, eight are NXNE alumn: Cadence Weapon, Kathleen Edwards, Feist, Fucked Up, Grimes, a posthumous nomination for the disbanded Handsome Furs, Japandroids, and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan - one of the favourites from this year’s fest.
