NXNE 2012 may be over, but catch the final installment of filmaker Cameron MacKenzie’s – whose Letting Go was screened three times at NXNE Film 2012 – diary here…
Last day of North by Northeast. How can that be? It has been sooo muuuuch fuuuun! Toronto is a wonderful town! Simply AMMMAAZZINGGG! I soooo don’t want to go back to Fargo.
I loved meeting all the filmmakers and seeing their films! They are aaalll so wonderful and I can’t believe they actually paid attention to little ole ME. At the Q&A today for “Slaughter Nick”, Rob Stewart (google him … I’ll give you a hint … “Tropical Heat”) saw me in the crowd and called me out … pointed me out. I think Rob was surprised to see me after we had all been out so late last night! aaahhh! I almost died! He actually remembered me.
(Rob was in my Day 5 video Blog.) And then Jonathan Holiff talked to me before and after “My Father and the Man In Black” screened today — and he called me out during his Q&A, too. The only sad thing about the whole day was learning that the NFB is going to not be any more.
That is really really sad. It is such a beautiful building!
After I got a chance to talk to almost the entire Holiff family, Ambrose, Cam, Wendy, Ambrose, Sam and me and my mom headed back to the Hyatt to change clothes (at least some of us changed
). Then we headed to 99 to eat. When we got there, though, we decided to go to the Fresh and Wild deli instead to pick up different stuff to take back to the Hyatt. Sam and my mom and me ate salads, sushi, tikki, greek butter beans, you get the drift … good healthy food for dinner … and watched the BBC news — mom hasn’t watched any news since we got here!
After we ate, Sam and I headed out to the MMVAs and saw Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, LMFAO, Kelly Clarkson … google it and see you was there! It was tough getting in without a wristband but the security guard saw my PRIORITY Badge from NXNE (haha!) which I was still wearing … and let me and Sam right in! (“Here you go young lady!” said he! So polite) I’m not a huge fan of JB or Carly Rae or even Selena, but Katy Perry isn’t bad … and Kelly Clarkson, well, she’s Kelly Clarkson.
I mostly went cuz you HAVE to go. I mean, I might not ever again. Next time I go, hoping I’ll be ON the stage!
Katy Perry tossed some rings to me in the audience! Nice gifts for my friends back in Fargo! The entire gig was pretty cool though. So much energy!!!
Got back to the Hyatt pretty early tonight … 11:15pm. (Thanks Sam Ho!)
Am so sad it is my last day at NXNE…. (CRYING here!) … and almost my last day in T.O. Hope I am here next year.
Guess I’ll have to get busy on another new film for NXNE 2013 … unless I get one of my filmmaker buds to submit something I have ONLY acted in to NXNE. That’s be kind’a different!
Sooooooooooooo … guess I’ll be signing off now! Cameron MacKenzie THANKS North by Northeast for this AMAZING OPPORTUNITY and AWESOME AWESOME EXPERIENCE! AMBROSE ROCHE … CAMERON CARPENTER … TOM KING … MIKE TANNER … FLIP PUBLICITY … DAMIEN … JULIE … JILL … and the FILMMAKERS … so many of you worth mentioning … but ROB STEWART and JONATHAN HOLIFF … here’s back at both of you for your shouts out to me at our screenings at NFB today. You Guys ALLLLLL ROCK! (You should a been on stage at the MMVAs!) I LOOOVVVEE T.O.! sniffle sniffle …………………….
