Last year’s debut NXNE Bruise Cruise – featuring Ty Segall, Young Guv and a few others – was a resounding success (check Brooklyn Vegan for pictures, as well as a few funny stories), and this year’s event promises to be no different.
Again hosted on the Saturday of NXNE week, we have the ex-Miko Miko sisters Bleached, Captured Track‘s fantastically over-enigmatic faux-rocker Mac DeMarco, Toronto punks Teenanger, the jewels in the Daps Record’s crown Hooded Fang, and New York Night Train‘s party-starting vinylist Mr Jonathan Toubin performing. They’re all NXNE club acts across the week – we’re proud to admit – but JESUS CHRIST THEY’RE PLAYING ON A BOAT.
Last year the sight of hungover hordes running down Spadina to catch the departure time – miss it and you miss the cruise, by the way – was pretty funny, so make you get to the dock early. The waters of Lake Ontario should hardly be the most testing, but quease-prone passengers should rest assured that Captain Matthew Flinders will be guiding the vessel with the consumate ease you can expect from a Mariposa staffer. Just make sure you didn’t go too crazy with our Friday night’s 4am late licenses.
Entry is free with NXNE passes & wristbands, or you can either buy advance tickets or – riskily – leave it late and pay cover on the day. Here’s the info:
