“Looking For Guides To An Alternative” – Johannes Zits
Toronto-based multimedia artist showing in Canada and abroad. Johannes Zits travels widely for research with residencies in Taipei, Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Shanghai, Manchester, Hamburg, Santiago, London, and Berlin – to name a few. In January 2008 a major solo exhibition highlighting his many disciplines was held at the Centre DíArt Contemporain de Basse Normandie in Caen, France.
“Looking For Guides To An Alternative” is a performative action located in the Financial District and at the Ryerson Quad. Zits will use the classic business suit, cut up and repurposed to create a tapestry. He’ll work for the full 6 days of the NXNE Art Festival out in the public, cutting, weaving, and adding material he is given by willing participants (so remember to pack that old pair of suit pants you don’t wear anymore.)
Grab your pass or wristband here, then suit up and head down. Johannes Zits will be in the heart of Toronto’s financial district at Bay & King, June 11th to 14th / 11:00 am – 3:00 pm and Ryerson Quad, June 15th to 16th / 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
