NXNE is excited to welcome Christopher Roberts to our ranks. He joins us as a Festival Director as of April 15, 2013.
Originally from Ottawa (we’ll talk about those pesky Sens later,) Christopher returns to Canada by way of Brooklyn, NY where he’s been for the past eight years with VICE. Christopher led VICE as the Head of Artist Relations for VICE Records, as well as the Managing Director of the Experiential Department. In the position, he helped curate and stage groundbreaking events around the world, including things like: The Creators Project at Coachella (featuring audiovisual installations created by the likes of Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Interpol + more,) the multi-city SCION Garage Rock Festival, and the hugely successful VICELAND project at SXSW 2013 with Kendrick Lamar, Baauer, Snoop Lion, and Ghostface Killah.
Beyond events, Christopher also scouted and signed artists such as Team Spirit, The Black Lips, Action Bronson, The Raveonettes, OFF!, and Pierced Arrows. He also directly worked with VICE artists like Snoop Lion, Bloc Party, Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Streets, Death From Above 1979, and many more.
“We are thrilled to add Christopher’s leadership to the NXNE team. He has been crucial in building the VICE brand worldwide and his diverse experience fits perfectly with our ambitious goals to build NXNE into one of the greatest cultural festivals in the world,” said Michael Hollett, NXNE President.
Welcome aboard Christopher. We’re looking forward to NXNE 2013 (or at least what we’ve announced of it so far…) and much, much more to come.
