There’s going to be dancing at NXNE, and you can thank Dan Deacon for that. But besides his ability to get bodies moving, we’ve got some other facts about the Long Island-born, Baltimore-based electronic musician/artist.
- He’s a music graduate of the State University of New York, where he studied computer music and electro-acoustic composition.
- His remix of another Canadian treasure (aka Carly Rae Jepsen) is an a cappella “Call Me Maybe” layered 147 times. And it’s seriously trippy.
- “Drinking out of Cups” went viral, racking up more than 17 million views on YouTube. Deacon himself never posted the video and wasn’t very happy it was taken out of context.
- Head to your app store. He created something called the Dan Deacon Smartphone App that uses that thing in your pocket/purse as a way to crowd source speakers, radios, and lights from his live audience.
Dance on to see Deacon at NXNE 2013.
